WCAG

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are a set of international standards developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to ensure that web content is accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities. WCAG is structured around four main principles, ensuring that content is:

  1. Perceivable: Information and user interface components must be presented to users in ways they can perceive. This includes providing text alternatives for non-text content and ensuring content is adaptable to different formats.
  2. Operable: User interface components and navigation must be operable. This includes making all functionalities available from a keyboard and providing users enough time to read and use content.
  3. Understandable: Information and the operation of user interfaces must be understandable. This involves making text readable and predictable and helping users avoid and correct mistakes.
  4. Robust: Content must be robust enough to be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies. This means maximizing compatibility with current and future user tools.

The guidelines are divided into three levels of conformance: A (lowest), AA, and AAA (highest), with AA being the recommended standard for most websites to meet a balance of accessibility and functionality.
